We have 15 knots of wind from the east and we're
sailing along at 5.5 knots in beautiful, sunny weather. We are all pretty
careful about protecting our skin from the damaging effects of the sun. As
soon as we get up in the morning, we apply sun block and continue to do so
throughout the day. We wear hats and light clothing with long sleeves and
long legs. They look like pajamas and you'll never see a picture of us in
them, unless we can convince Tom and Garry to pose for one. Peg always
wears a visor with the broadest brim she can get. Tom and Garry think it's
a funny-looking hat, but Peg is not affected by their comments ("better not
face into the wind - you'll get whiplash") and chuckles.
It's odd to be out here with no real news about what's
happening in the real world. We have a satellite radio, but it requires
pointing the antenna to the southwest from a stable platform. We really
need a stabilizing antenna that will hold a beam for that radio and they don't
make one yet. We could listen to the BBC on single sideband radio, but we
don't. We figure if something really important is happening, our friends
and family will let us know by email. We do know, thanks to son, Garth,
who lives near Boston, that the Patriots and the Eagles will be competing in the
Super Bowl in 2 weeks; and hopefully, we'll be in port by then and will be able
to watch the game. We remain Buffalo Bills fans, but we'll root for the
Patriots.
All's well on board-
Tom, Peg and Garry
