UPDATE:
October 12, 2004
The island of Tenerife is a delight.
We drove through pine, eucalyptus and hardwood forests on winding
mountain roads and finally came into the center of the huge caldera
where Mount Tiede, the highest point in the Canaries, dominated the
landscape. The summit of Mount Tiede is above the clouds and way
above the tree line. Hiking around caused us a lot of huffing and
puffing.
