UPDATE:
October 26, 2004
We sent our absentee ballots back to the U.S. and left
Puerto Calero, Lanzarote, to tour the other islands. Jim Nash, a British
friend who is a serious sports fisherman on Lanzarote, gave us a reel, line,
lure, and more than a few tips, told us to go get fish. On our way from
Lanzarote to Tenerife, we caught this little tuna (at least we think he's a
tuna), but decided that he was still a baby. We put him back in to finish
growing, hoping he'd make lots of other tunas for fishermen to catch - maybe
even us someday. We have toured the island of Tenerife, driving through
pine and eucalyptus forests which provided us with a lush landscape that was far
different from the beautiful, but barren, volcanic islands of Graciosa and
Lanzarote. We arrived yesterday on the small island of La Gomera and have
settled into a very friendly community of other cruisers. Boat jobs and
laundry today - sightseeing and hiking tomorrow.
