WELCOME TO PHOTO PORTAL 5: EXPLORING NORTHERN SPAIN (THE GALICIA REGION)
Peg and Tom explore the NW Coast of Spain below Cape Finestierre. The Spanish refer to this general area as "Galicia". These pics were taken along the Ria (river) de Muro and another river south of the Cape. Tom indicated that the area reminds him of Maine--granite rocks, pine trees, cooler weather, and some fog.
More from Tour of Rias in Northwest Spain (clockwise from top left): Tom with friends Raine and Stan (met in Azores) in Santiago; Raine and Stan departing Villagarcia on s/v Aurelia; Harvesting mussels (majillones) in the Ria de Arosa; Heath and Mary on s/v Revision II (hailing port Oriental, NC like Tom and Peg).
More from tour of Rias: Tunos de Compostella performed by a group of friends in celebration of the Ano Santo Compostelano; Cathedral at Santiago de Compostello; Beautiful seascape at Isla de Cies (more below).
Rias Tour--Isla de Cies: Starboard Home at Anchor in good weather and, later, with the fog rolling in; Tom at Cies on the crossover between islands; and Peg hiking on Cies.
