Across the Pond
Have you
ever wanted to just jump on a boat and sail
away? If practical constraints make this a pipe dream and leave you land-bound,
this site is probably the next best thing. Peg and Tom Maynard love sailing, and
have sailed for years. Join Peg and Tom aboard their yacht Starboard Home for
the transatlantic cruise to Europe they began on May 19, 1999 from their home in
Oriental, North Carolina. The first leg is to Bermuda, the second to the Azores,
and the third to Spain and points beyond. Peg and Tom have done all the
prep work. All we have to do is tag along for the ride. But don’t be surprised
if they ask you to grab a line and help out. No one crews for free.
This main page serves as your base of operations for
their 1999 trip. Use the bulleted links that
follow to view daily logs, detailed Trip Reports, and photos. Bon Voyage!
